I have known Terrence since high school days, so this means like forever, ha ha (12 years!) After we matriculated we sort of lost touch as one does. Then one day fate intervened and our paths crossed again. My husband Jan (boyfriend at the time) and I walked into a computer shop, and there Terrence was, (Jan used to coach Terrence hockey, so they were acquainted too), and that’s when their Triathlon love affair all began. It was brutal training rides in Suikerbos, freezing swims in lakes and miles of pounding the pavement together that cemented the bond. As well as some great races and then not so great races, but that’s all part of character building I suppose. Of course for me to be able to keep up with them, I had to dust off my running shoes and start pounding that pavement as well. I did not want to feel out of the loop and look awkward standing next to two buff guys.
Terrence designed a very user friendly training program for me in 2012/2013. It makes it much easier having a fitness goal because you know what is expected of you every day. This was definitely the fittest time of my life and I felt fabulous. The program has variety, so you never feel like you are on repeat.
But life happens and I got sick, so I went off track. Now Terrence is kicking me back onto track (literally and figuratively!). I have started one of his innovative training programs again and can’t wait to get my running mojo back. First goal – 10 km then onto bigger and better things, a debut 21 km 😉
Looking forward to travelling this journey with you again, my dear friend Terrence!

Before I met Terrence I had absolutely no previous history of endurance sport except for the one or two duathlon’s I had done on a whim with my husband for fun.
I had always loved watching triathlons and had always wanted to give it a go, but I was so unfit and out of shape and struggling to get back into a fitness routine after the birth of my son that I kept putting it off. Eventually 15 months later I decided it was time!
I contacted Terrence and entered for my first triathlon, the 5150 Bela Bela and only gave myself 3 months to prepare. Ill never forget that first 5km run, I was like an old diesel truck coughing and spluttering and gasping for air! I thought I was going to die!
But Terrence very quickly built up my endurance and speed in all three disciplines. He managed to get me to do a 10km run in under 50mins which for me was remarkable as the fastest I had ever managed before was a 1hr 3min! Race day came and I completed my very first triathlon ever in under 3 hours! I was AMAZED!
Next I set my sights on the half ironman in Buffalo City. The road leading up to race day was filled with challenges. My husband was working overseas a lot during that time and I had no one to watch our son so I did virtually 90% of my bike work on the indoor trainer and did all my runs and brick runs with my son in his pram.
There were many days when I wanted to quit as I felt that I wasn’t getting in the proper hours to complete such a huge race but Terrence kept motivating me, encouraging me and reminding me that we do these things for FUN!!!
Even with all the adversity and minimal hours I still managed a 6hrs 15min.
I believe it’s because of Terrence’s in depth knowledge and skill of the sport coupled with his own personal experience and his ability to work out programmes that are specifically catered to each individuals needs and abilities that make him an awesome coach.
He uses what he has to bring out the best in you and help you achieve even more than you possibly thought you were cable of! I would recommend Terrence to EVERYONE!
